The Heritage Bag is the perfect blend between workwear and luxury. It’s a weekend bag, that you'll bring on all your adventures. Classy , made with the best materials, but hard wearing to make sure it lasts a lifetime.
It will be perfect for when you have to move away for 2 or 3 days, it’s big enough to fit two shirts, one jumper, one or two pants, one pair of shoes, a wash-bag, your laptop, other accessories, and even more, depending how you pack.
Unlike many other weekend bags, the Heritage Bag can be opened widely thanks to its expansion capability on the sides. You won’t have to empty your whole bag to reach the shirt you’ve put at the very bottom.
The Heritage Bag can be carried by hand, with its strong handles, or over your shoulder, with the 2cm wide shoulder strap, the length of which can be easily changed. The length of the handles can be changed as well, allowing you to wear it lower on your shoulder if needed.
We have developed this bag to be the perfect bag for the modern gentleman. Among the main problems people told us they often have with bags were the fact they often get tears in the lining after only a few months of use. That’s why we have lined our Heritage Bag with hickory denim, which is heavy enough to prevent any tears.
People always complained about not finding their keys and their wallet, which were lost deep inside. Thus, a key-fob inside the bag will help you to save some precious time by always knowing where your keys are. The oversized pocket will be useful to put your wallet, your phone charger, and all the stuff you want to reach easily.
Attention to details is what makes the difference. We’ve chosen vintage hardware which will look even better over time. They’re all made in Italy with steel, no matter how hard you try, you’ll never break them.
To prevent scratches on the leather, you will find some steel protector studs on the base of the bag. It’s a small detail, but it brings the Heritage Bag above the others.
In order to keep the shape of the bag when carried, and to protect your clothes and accessories, the bottom of the bag is made of several layers of leather and salpa, a mix of leather and glue, making the bottom stronger.
The selvedge Hickory denim is produced in Portugal. It's a fabric with a lot of history, it was indeed used at the beginning of the 20th century for workwear clothes, mainly by Americans railway workers. They needed clothes made with hard-wearing, tough yet breathable fabrics, it is therefore no surprise that their official uniform was made of an hickory shirt and cap. The pattern was especially liked by workers because it disguises stains.
Hickory shirts are sometimes described as the shirts who built America, and now this same fabric lines our bags.
According to the legend, it has been named Hickory because it was as durable and resistant than hickory wood.
This selvedge denim is an heavy fabric, more resistant than a non-selvedge one. Its characterized by the red self-edge.
It is woven on old looms, using old-fashioned techniques, which is less efficient than modern wide fabrics, the production is indeed slower, and some irregularities do appear on the denim surface, that's what makes it even more different, more unique.
For all our products, we use vegetable tanned cowhide leather.
This kind of leather is tanned by using only organic products such as branches, leaves, sometimes even fruits. All this work is done by hand.
This process is more time consuming than tanning with chrome, but no chemicals are used, therefore it is more ecological. Moreover, this process makes it harmless to people who work in the factory. It is the most sustainable tanning.
Tanning the leather with natural product keeps it breathable, compared to chrome tanning where leather is damaged with the use of chemical products, reducing its lifetime.
Vegetable tanned leather ages in a very beautiful way, it develops a patina which makes it unique. It does not have a uniform colour, because of the fact that the process is done by hand, but this is what makes this leather so unique and beautiful. They will get scars from all your journeys, they will age with you. No two products will look the same, they will all tell a different story, yours.
The leather used is Full- Grain leather, which is the whole surface of the skin of the animal, just below the hair. It's the strongest part of the animal's skin. As opposed to Top-Grain leather, it has a lot of irregularities, such as vein-marks, sometimes even scratches, because the leather has not been retouched to remove natural markings. The grain is totally natural and is never the same from one animal to another.
Top-Grain leather has a more uniform appearance because irregularities have been removed by cutting the very top part of the leather, but this process makes it less resistant to wear, and makes it almost impossible to develop a patina.
Our Full-Grain leather is the highest quality leather, from every aspect. It can fade and become darker with age, it's resistant to water and it has kept its unique look. Be aware that this leather may be stiff at the beginning, but it will become softer after a few wears.
Cowhide leather is one of the most resistant leather. It has more grain than calfskin leather, more character, that is what makes it more unique.
